In the beginning

Yummie chocolate cake, made and cooked in a mug in the microwave in less than 5 min, what could be better? This blog documents the evolution of our attempts at a better cake.

Below is the 1.0 version of the recipe. I encourage you to try it, only a world-weary cynic hardened by wrongful and inhuman imprisonment could be disappointed. Bon appetite!

Ingredients

Directions

  1. Mix in a microwave safe cup.
  2. Mix flour, sugar and cocoa.
  3. Spoon in 1 egg.
  4. Pour in milk, oil, and pure vanilla extract, and mix well.
  5. Put in microwave for 3 minutes on maximum power (1000watt).
  6. Wait until it stops rising and sets in the mug.
  7. Tip contents out of mug onto saucer and enjoy!

Just so people know, I found this recipe too eggy. A variation that increases the ingredients by 1.5-fold but uses one egg works well for 2 portions.

  2. Mmmh... the project hasn't taken off really. So let's summarize the mutations experimented so far:

    1. increasing 1.5 times all ingredients apart from egg;
    2. substituting the oil for butter;
    3. adding white chocolate chips;

    Anything else?
